What's all this 'trick or treat' shite? What's wrong with the good old Hallowe'en tradition of telling crap jokes/singing (direly) to earn the nuts/fruit/chocolate?

Do you then have to answer the door and listen to a song with a fixed smile for 10 minutes?

Not just one song. They might come in a group of 3 or 4 so you have to listen to poems jokes and songs and seem suitably overwhelmed. However I'm sure it's a good learning experience for them. I've distant memories of writing limericks for my sons one year. One started with 'There was an old woman in Govan, who kept her false teeth in the oven' but I can't remember the rest.

When it got hot,
All the spittle and snot,
Rose in a wee cloud above em

Aww. Good for them, but not good for us! I would definitely have to pretend to be out.
