Had a vague recollection of seeing this American sitcom (there were no British TV equivalents then) in the mid 50s when I was a kid and so £2 for a six show DVD was well worth the wallow.
Still funny with a zany Davis "Ball clone", but I expect Lucille Ball would have something to say about the announcer's claim that it was "Americas favourite comedy show, with the queen of comedy Joan Davis". The funnier (imo) "I Love Lucy" started its long run just before this series.
Also, a fan of Jim Backus, who played her husband in this, and was more famous as the voice of Mr Magoo in the original superior cartoon series. He also had a small part in "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World"
