Does anybody know the name of the theme tune and who sings it?

John Sullivan sings it. I think it's just titled 'The Green Green Grass'. There's some info about it on the show's website under FAQs - www.greengreengrass.net

Probably another write-the-theme-tune-sing-the-theme-tune dealy from Sullivan, no? I shall check when I get home.

Ah, there we go. :)

Thanks alot RT02. John Sullivan is a superb composer. He wrote and sang the brilliant ending theme tune to Citizen Smith, wrote and sang the brilliant theme tune to Only Fools and Horses and now he has wrote/sang this. I tell u, that man should bring an album out.

Just found the theme tune on the GGG website, Sullivan's composing is brilliant. We need to find out his address and send him begging letters asking him to bring out an album. Anyway if you want to listen to the theme tune, go to www.greengreengrass.net, click on old favourites and then click on theme tune.

For other examples of Sullivan's composing/singing (he sings everything he writes) try these out: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Jh-pxY3EvbE

Apparantly, this originally was going to be the theme tune of Only Fools and Horses http://youtube.com/watch?v=mcstP_9rMDE

I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere (possibly Comedy Connections) that the OFAH theme which we now know and love wasn't ready when episode one went out, and so they put that weird thing on instead. Or something? *scratches head*

The Beeb wanted something generic. It was only after series one that Sullivan penned the classic theme.

Actually, he doesn't. He wrote the Just Good Friends theme and Paul Nicholas sang it - and released an extended, more soppier version on his album of the same name.

Sullivan also wrote the theme to Dear John and the closing song of Rodney Come Home (end credits).

GGG is so crap the only good thing about it is the theme song.

I'm not sure if this has been covered before (I haven't read the whole thread) but something just isn't clicking into place with The GGG. There are some cracking lines and terrific characters but something ain't right in "Shropshire". I really do not like to single actors out but I am going to on this occassion. Jack Doolan has been given some very funny lines and I am cringing because of bad timing and missed opportunities. He has not (IMO) developed the character, there are so many times when he could just have a different expression or even appear to hear what is being said by the other actors, who I think are acting their socks off!

I know it is easy for the Tyler character to be a "Rodney" type and probably he is trying to get as far away from that trap as possible but he doesn't seem to have developed anything to replace such a key role in the whole production. I don't believe the relationship between Tyler and his girlfriend either. Was he miscast? I think probably so?

Sorry Jack but there are some fantastic character actors out there that would have done anything for this chance.

Y'know, I hadn't really thought about it like that before, but you have a point. I'm not sure I'd go quite as far, but yes, there's something that doesn't quite feel as if it's the right tone with him. A bit too gormless and easily distracted, perhaps?

Can someone help me clear something up?

There two episodes on GGG on over the Christmas period one on the 21st and one on the 30th which is the Christmas episode if it’s the 21st then is the 30th a repeat.

The one on the 30th is a brand new episode, it is not on christmas day
for some reason.

Barry, they're two different episodes. I'm not sure which - if either - could be classed as the/a 'Christmas' episode though. If forced to make a guess, I'd go for the 21st, but don't place any bets on that. We'll have to see.

Thanks Jake and Aaron, my confusions arise from Mark BSG guide, which has 6 episodes plus the Christmas one. Were as I’ve recorded 5 episodes with 3 to go.

Yeah, there will be 8 in total from what I can see.

The One listed for the 30th is forty minutes long so would make it the special but it seems an odd time (17.50) and day. Could be a repeat but DigiGuide info doesn’t match past specials.
