When I rented my first video recorder from Granada (It's great service you get when you rent your colour set from...), I had the choice of a video of the film M*A*S*H or Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines. I forget which one I opted for. Certainly the first video I purchased was A Horse Called Nijinsky at a tad over £20, which was the going rate for pre-recorded videos at that time. Even blank tapes were around a tenner.

Yes, early video was hellish expensive. Those "bricks" of complicated cassettes for the Philips N1500, in the early 70s were about £25, which was a LOT of money!!

1994......... Now we'll go backwards. And this one reminds of the Victoria Wood: As Seen on TV sketch with Patricia Routledge as the agony aunt Kitty............................

"I said, what's that smell?!"

She said "It's Ma Griffe"

"I said, well it needs washing" 😄

(you had to be there)

Clive was on the ball back then, even down to the gay pride symbol.
I queued to buy the 48k one to learn to program it.
