1913..........

That's 67½p for a pair of shoes!! Oooh, and I like the bow

Actually the postage now would cost more than the shoes.

I remember that arse wipe in the school bogs.
It didn't clean up, it just smeared the shite up your back

Yes, and the other one was Bronco - never understood why people bought them

What was the alternative?

Well, Andrex has been around since the 194O's, so I guess it was a matter of price.
We had Izal at school, but it was 2-ply luxury all the way, at home.

Apparently the best thing in the olden days was using a swan.

If you couldn't afford Andrex - this is what greeted you around my grandma's in the 1950s

Oh yes. Didn't Marshall P Knutt get sent there to rid them of the Rumpo Kid?

1968...........

tut tut! spending all that money and then putting a drink on top of it.Not even a coaster!
1968.My first stereo would have been a Fidelity,I think.

There was some pretty classy Hi-Fi coming out of Japan at that time - I had a Hitachi amp in similar style to that, that was all singing and dancing with loads of knobs you could do your head in with, tweaking each one as you listened to a stereo effect test disc. Ahh, those were the days.

I couldn't afford that sort of thing.I expect you had a reel -to -reel too :)

Yes, a very nice Sony, which a GI friend got for me off the local USAF base - the rest of the equipment I bought from a Sony Hi-Fi dealer (cassette deck and tuner) and a pair of Ditton 25 speakers that I wangled a trade price on direct from the factory, at half price!

I still have the reel to reel (lots of comedy tapes) and the Ditton speakers.

:) I miss those days.
Bang and Olufsen was often mentioned but I never knew anyone who had one.

I had an Akia reel to reel. You never hear of them anymore (Akia that is)
