And stinks the house out
We won't go into what it was also rumoured to be used for at the time...................
1977............ This year was when my shop was at its height, and Agfa slide film held its own against Kodak - good transparency film, with plastic mounts, as against Kodak's cardboard.
1933...........There's many a tin of screws or nails etc. in sheds/garages all over the UK
And once an electrical joint box I found in a loft.
Wow! And sounds a bit like the round junction box I found in a loft that had so many cables going in and out of it, they couldn't screw the lid down completely - it had all the colours in all the sizes, from very old black rubber to white to grey etc. etc. It did actually look like a large spider.
The house had never been touched since the 1930s when it was built and had two pin 5 amp sockets on the skirting boards, so I thought I'd better do a complete rewire, before it burnt down.

I had a go at smoking pipes but I'd always prefer a fag.
They were always going out and the pipe tobacco that smelt sweet tasted rough and the old socks aroma tasted sweet.
That was my experience anyway.
I could never take to a pipe - tried it twice, but simply didn't like it, and so could never understand people sucking on one for hours. I had a dear friend who used to take the smoke down too - he died of emphysema a few years back. He couldn't walk but a few paces before he was completely out of breath. Horrible.
1953.......... I remember the large bottles had an orange cellophane transparent sleeve (matched the liquid within) that was knotted at the top, which always looked odd to me as it didn't seem to serve any purpose, apart from looking like medicine (?), didn't like the taste either.
Large 2/6 ("Two and six" or "Half a Crown" = 12½p) with a 3d (3 pennies = 1¼p) refund for return of empty bottle - why is there no refund on bottles returned these days? It was a big thing at the time. As kids we would scour the streets for empty bottles to return to the grocer or off-licence etc.
I only got that if I was poorly as a kid.
It was special because of the orange cellophane wrapper.

Exactly what I was going to say.
