The Tingler (1959)
Been waiting decades, (yes, decades) for this film to be shown on TV again, the last time was when the BBC used to show late night horror films in the 1970s.
Absolute load of hokum, but so silly and starring Vincent Price, it's a must for me.
Price is a nutcase professor who plays, to quote "An obsessed pathologist discovers and captures a parasitic creature that grows when fear grips its host". The Stinger lives in us all, and it is the ability to scream when we encounter anything nasty that keeps it in our body, but he finds a way of capturing it, via a deaf and dumb woman.
Sheer lunacy, but I love it.
TPTV this Wednesday 11th at 12.05 AM
Having seen her obit recently, here's your chance to see 26 year old Raquel Welch in her skimpy animal skin bikini, grunting her way through "One Million Years B.C.", which is on TPTV Saturday 4/3 at 14.40.
I went to the cinema to see this, and not for what you think, abusing myself in the dark, but to see the fantastic work of Ray Harryhausen, especially his "T-Rex", which takes a liking to Miss Welch, and who wouldn't.
Total hokum, of course as caveman and prehistoric monsters could not have met.................or could they.

Thanks for the heads-up, Hercules. I've been enjoying quite a few of the old horror/sci-fi films on TPTV recently, and the little intros by Caroline Munro.
On a vaguely similar subject, Monday night's Mastermind (27/02/2023, 7.30, BBC1) includes someone's specialist subject of Universal's Frankenstein films of the 1930s and 40s, which I might have a chance of getting a decent score on. (I did OK when there was a round about films from Hammer studios a few years ago).

You're welcome 🙂
Brittas Empire , from the beginning now on 'Drama'
The Riverside Murder (1935)
This is a nice little uncomplicated murder mystery, which I will be watching yet again, as it has Alastair Sim in his very first film. But for him, I don't think I would have bothered, but it's only an hour long, and quaint.
This Sunday at 6.00 in the morning on TPTV

Thank you Herc for the reminder, I'll record that film.
Alastair Sim was fantastic, what would you say was his best performance?

The headmistress and her brother in the St Trinians film.

So glad someone made use of the info. 🙂
Just pipping Chapper's choice mine would be "The Green Man" and the 1951 "A Christmas Carol" aka "Scrooge", which I watch every Christmas as being in B&W and murky it makes it look so Dickensian and true to life - also it has two of my other favourite actors in it, Mervyn Johns and Jack Warner.
This clip from The Green Man never fails with me, when he has to get the lady musicians out of the lounge so he can plant the radio bomb - his facial expressions are superb!
The TV version of Popmaster with Ken Bruce on More4 at 8pm every day this week.
Hmmm, wasn't going to bother, but you've tempted me now to give it a look - the repeats of the 1980s Pop Quiz on BBC4 Sunday 7.30 pm with Mike Read are sorely dated and a bit of a mess, but well worth watching for pop people of the day you remember, and some I've never heard of!!
Yes, the problem with Popmaster I find is that he will insist on asking questions about post-1975 music. Which is no good to me.

😆 I remember your puzzlement at Jay of Jamiroquai, I mentioned recently, and I'm 78!!
Digi-box is set now for Popmaster, so we'll give it a look, at least he's an old DJ - it's not like it is being hosted by say Joel Mitchell, Mollie Finn or even Fee Mak 😎
The PopMaster set looks awful.
