Assistance Please!

I havent posted in a while and I found people used to ask way too many questions in former jobs and it annoyed me so I used to make things up, (there's two sketches by the way).

SCENE. INT. SUPERMARKET. DAY #1

A man approaches a member of staff.

PERSON
Hi, I was going to buy this book about space and it got me thinking, how far away is Pluto?

STAFF
(Looking around and points) It’s about 2 billion miles that way.

PERSON
(Following finger) Cheers.

END.

SCENE. INT. SUPERMARKET. DAY #2

A man approaches a different member of staff.

PERSON
Hi, I was thinking about this pen and then I thought hang on, what’s the longest someone’s stayed awake?

STAFF
Well, it’s questionable, but I believe it’s twelve days (pointing into the distance).

PERSON
Questionable? I don’t want the damned pen (throws pen on floor and walks away)

Then comes back into shot to follow the staff’s finger.

END.

Lost me I'm afraid, didn't get it/them. Probably I tried to over analyse!!

A very deep joke that's just too clever for me.

Now I think about it it's a bit of an "In" joke with myself... Never mind

The second one I didn't get.

I liked 'em.. the second would have to immediately follow the first though (or pretty soon after..) I reckon or it would be a bit too random on it's own..

I don't analyse stuff very much, it either tickles me or it doesn't and I was tickled by those..
