He is real - if you listen to the first few radio shows, as G&M realise he is funny, you can definitely tell that it is legit. Perhaps some of his 'rockbusters' and 'educating ricky' as they went along were over-exaggerated for comical effect, and maybe he is over-emphasising it now, but the basis is real.

I do remember the first shows on XFM and it did seem genuine.
