Deon Cole

If you've never heard of Deon Cole, I suggest you look him up.

He's very funny and he's very likeable and, essentially, those are the only two qualities a comedian needs to rise from nowhere to the top of the tree.

Unfortunately, however, those are two qualities most stand-up comedians don't possess.

Some possess one of them and others possess the other but exceedingly few of them possess both and a lot of them possess neither.

So, how about this from Deon, performing before a very large mixed-race audience . . .

"White people . . . is there anything you hate about black people? Go!

(No response whatever from the white members of the audience)

Nothin'? Nothin' at all? Black people are as cool as hell, huh?

(No response)

Ain't nothing wrong with black people at all? Y'all wanna say nothing? Huh?

(No response)

Okay, that's cool. Watch this!

Black people . . .

(Cheers and laughter from the audience as huge numbers of black audience members shoot their hands into the air, extremely keen to answer the coming question)"

Of course, the anticipated question isn't asked - because it doesn't need to be asked.

He simply shuts up and gets colossal appreciation for doing and saying nothing more.

His point has been made - succinctly and absolutely beautifully.

If you agree with me that that's comedy gold, you'll like Deon Cole.
