If you had to move to another city in the UK what city would you choose and which one would you rule out right away?
For me it would be Bristol as I think the West country is funky and earthy.
Hull would be the total no no as I have never seen a more drab place.
On the move
Liverpool - not , and Lewes where my daughter lives - it sounds wonderful!
Herc Lewes is a town you have to have a city.
But I don't like cities.
Exeter. I nearly went to university there, but didn't. I'd like to make it up to them by going and living there.

Was that the time when you used to sell lavvy paper out of the back of your van?
Move to Brighton in a hart beat. It's so arty and liberal. I would avoid Blackpool , it's like Brighton after being ravaged by a 20 year drug addiction. £10 gets you a B&B there, but they won't let you look at the rooms first. It's a shame because Blackpool use to be fabulous, before they invented airplanes. It still makes for a good short break, but living there is different...

That wouldt have been more useful than the degree I did get!
I would definitely avoid Stoke-on-Trent - a city I've always found dark and gloomy. And, something I have in common with Albert Steptoe, my sister lives there.
I think I would plump for Windsor. A picturesque stretch of river by which to relax, a nice theatre, plenty of tea shops, lots of nearby Thameside towns & villages to visit, easily accessible for London for days & evenings out and close to several racecourses. Yes, I've rather talked myself into it. Just popping out to the Estate agent now.
Dorset so I can go rambling along the beach front. Or Bourton On The Water. Not Birmingham because it always feels drab when the train arrives at New Street.
Firkin I concur I stayed in Kemptown which is almost in Brighton , there was a large contingent of Scousers there the late 70's and for some reason the police called it Hemptown.
Brighton's boss as long as you understand the lifestyle. Some people think that every gay person walking along the sea front is 'Cruising' and these types often do outraged looks or snide comments and ruin the vibe .
Take the same idiots for a walk in the Bronx past the street corner gangs openly selling drugs and these 'Outraged By Everything' types look at the floor and keep their mouths shut because they're basically shithouses .
As far as Blackpool goes it's poor quality accommodation is due to its B&B's being used as a dumping ground for every council for miles around.
These B&B's are playing host to what is basically a microcosm of all that ails . They house the sad, the mad and the bad alongside the destitute and young family's waiting for homes that will never be built.
Glad you all seem to like Brighton! My latest sitcom I'm trying to flog is set in Kemp Town, Teddy.
Good luck Beaky. If it's half as good as your last, it will be twice as good as most things on at the moment.
Nice setting that Beaky as its akin to an enclave , the Greenwich Village of the south coast.
Thanks, both! It's set in a gay pub. People seem a bit nervous about the gay theme, though...
