British Comedy Guide

Back To Life

I like this new comedy-drama.

Daisy Haggard (surely Rob Beckett's long-lost sister?) is a very funny woman when she wants to be and a very good serious actress when she doesn't.

Given that she writes the scripts and is also a star of the show, this could well be another "Fleabag".

It's funny and it's tragic and it's not always easy to decide which word is best applied to what.

Who knows? It might even be better than "Fleabag".

Now, wouldn't that be something?

I watched the first two and enjoyed them a lot, I'll get to the rest soon. It's very busy but it's well made so it works.

I didn't think it very funny, but found the story gripping. Really enjoyed.

As I live next to Hythe I wish that people talked like this here! It's too home county. Wonder which streets it was filmed in, I must Google.

I've just started watching this and I'd agree, it's very compelling without necessarily being laugh a minute (although there are a fair few chuckles in there).

One of the handful of British comedies I've enjoyed and stuck with in the last couple of years. Strong writing, performances, directing. Deserved far more attention and acclaim.
