Plus One - Pilot Page 2

I don't think the flashback was designed to explain the joke.

Then what is it doing there?

Actually I don't have a problem with the "flashback" reveal in itself, only that it was actually a "flashback" reveal. For me, the finale would have worked much better if they had just CUT from his sister suggesting a text, and we go straight into the next scene. Then we could have had the reveal later as flashback. They ruined any chance of a gag and surprise elementt the way it was done.

It seems obvious to me and I'm a bleedin' amateur viewer. But only obvious to my tastes, as ever.

.

Ignore me, posted on the wrong thread.

Can you not delete posts?

I couldn't find a delete button, only an edit.

I wasn't really looking forward to this once I heard the premise but I actually liked it. Yeah there were a few predictable moments like as soon as you saw him go to the loo after cutting chillis it was obvious what was about the happen (hole: people usually close toilet doors). And the text joke was over explained although once I knew what was going to happen I still thought it was funny.

I'm not sure how you can call the brother and sister the same character??? Although they weren't given much depth that is usual for sub-characters, they aren't main characters so you don't need to care etc.

I would watch a series of this if they made it, same with the Martin Freeman one. I probably wouldn't watch the period one, but I've been impressed with the pilots to date. Its regaining my faith in British Comedy - if only to a decent level.

Should be a checkbox to delete under the big ol' textbox on the edit page? If not, I broke something.

Ahem... :$
Oh, yeah. Now I see it.

So you write a sitcom that has one character and all the others don't have any personality 'cause they're not important? They've got to have something. If I don't care for them perhaps I won't care for the lead (which I didn't). You look at the Martin Freeman one and there was MF, his colleague, his lawyer, the cop. They all had personality or a 'handle'. It's just bad writing.

They could have been more defined, I agree. I guess the handle was the brother trying to stay young, and the best friend fancying the leads sister. But i don't see how the 18 year-old obsessed brother was 'the same' as the new Mother sister?

And no - I haven't got it on my Homechoice 4OD.

Probably 'cos Homechoice got bought by a shit company. Tiscali, if I remember rightly.

Yes, Tiscali. Bloody Itis! *shakes fist and mumbles something about pizza and ice cream* ;)

Sorry to bump this back up after so long, but...

http://www.thestage.co.uk/news/newsstory.php/20846/daniel-mays-replaces-rory-kinnear-in-channel

Which I'm excited about because the guy is a great actor. Oh, and they showed a repeat on E4 a week or so ago, and it was better than I remembered.

Big bump!

It starts this Friday on Channel 4 at 10. 5-part series and there are 2 clips here:

Personally, I'm looking forward to it. Daniel Mays looks more likeable than Rory Kinnear, but then again I'm a fan of his.

And who knew Duncan from Blue could act?

New thread needed though. :)
