Yes, definitely. It all depends on the era or genre of which one is a fan. You cannot "specialise" in everything. In fact it could be said that you're more of a devotee for being a little more discerning.

You can be a music fan without liking rap; you can be a football fan without admiring Milton Keynes Dons...

That

I think the likes of Jack Dee and Dawn French aren't funny, but that's just my opinion.

I personally, love the vintage comedy such as Steptoe and Son, the Carry Ons, Are You Being Served, Last Of The Summer Wine etc. even though I would be called a young person as I'm under thirty.

You're a very young person to me! 🤪

Good Morning Everybody!

I scored 1/10 on today's Hitchhiker quiz, I must admit I haven't read, watched or listened to much Hitchhiker stuff.

However, I'm a big fan of Rihanna Evans' comedy rewind articles on this very site.

Nice one Rhianna! 7/10 and 1/5 for me, which I think is brilliant considering the only bit of the franchise I've seen/heard is the first 15-20 minutes of the 2005 film. I gained most of my knowledge of it thanks to Samantha Cristoforetti being a fan of everything sci-fi and of serving on the ISS during Expedition 42 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expedition_42).

Also - is there an technical issue with Q7? I don't recall answering that question (but would have known the answer) and the answer page shows the correct answer in green text, but without a tick next to it. And counting back it's not one of the 7/10 scored for me in that section.

4/10 and 1/5. Not my scene at all!! Two, maybe three I had a vague notion, otherwise I was floundering with wild guesses.

With the best will in the world, I don't think I'm going to chance my arm with this one.
Never quite saw the attraction of HG, therefore my knowledge is minimal, at best.

F**king Hell, did the HHGTTG test and got ten out of ten! That's thirteen more than usual. Even the guesses were right. F**k.

On the other end of the scale, literally 0 correct answers for me!!! An all time low. I usually at least get one or two guesses correct, but nuffink this week.

The strange part is that I'm hardly a Hitch Hikers' obsessive. The first two bouts were okay, but the rest was surplus.

4 & 4. Nice little reminder of the pleasantly British creation -Parochial sci-fi. And it's hard to imagine a Red Dwarf without its inspiration.

My favourite voiceover was from Peter Jones, gave it an intimacy some of the dryer ones lacked.

And another big tick for the single subject special, loving these. I'd like to see a complete catalogue of classic Britcom creations given their own quiz on the BCG.

The Young Ones, please.

Then who better to do it than you MM?

I've broached this subject two or three times with Mark, but he is not keen on them as it excludes non fans of that sitcom for that week, and if you have too many you might put regular quizzers off. Hence the ones we have are well spaced apart.

I will raise it with him again though, when he is not so busy!

I see his point but as it's mainly comedy fans and quiz fans who do the quizzes I'd be surprised if they were put off doing them, rather than seeing it as a way to learn more about the subject, as I do. And there's quite a few in the pipeline so Mark certainly isn't anti them.
