British Comedy Quiz Page 18

It must have been on at visiting time.

Well, you missed a superb comedy series, and have much to looked forward to one day.

Just did quiz 223 by Niki. 5/10 for me this week. Correct ones: 2, 3, 6, 8 and 10. A few very tricky ones there! I should've got one or two of the others but didn't go with my first instinct...

7/10. #1 (an "educated guess"), 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 & 10 correct.

Of the three I got wrong, #5 I've never heard of the programme in question, #7 I didn't know (and have not heard of the first two options) and #9 no idea.

6/10 and 2/5, with some of those I'd never heard of!! Well done Niki (I think ?)

And, if I'd got No. 4 wrong, I would have had to get me old service revolver out and do the decent thing.

? You didn't get 4? Oh dear.

Thanks Herc - the inspiration for that question was your recent themed quiz - I was surprised that question wasn't in there. So I wrote it up for my quiz question bank :)

Thanks Billy - depending on where you lived at the time you may have missed #5 as C4 took a little while to roll out to full coverage across the UK. Also it's not had a DVD release or a repeat run on Gold or other cable channel as far as I'm aware. But I remember enjoying it as a child, and it was the first sitcom I remember watching that had a strong dramatic vein in some later episodes.

.

Er, well obviously it came into view, but I thought it would have been too easy - it certainly was for me! But it seems not for others, yet I would have thought the Blood Donor was one of the most well known sitcom episodes...............I am old you know. ?

Thanks - I must admit the correct stats for Q1 surprised me when I first learned them!

7 & 3
Afterwards had to look up the Palin question (which I got wrong) because I couldn't believe the answer - I was shocked!
I'd never heard ofthe Eighties sitcom - and my guess didn't pay off.
Not sure I've ever watched a whole episode of Corrie - so another guess, which I also got wrong.

I always remember that because in the first episode (I think) of 80 Days he's met by an adoring American fan who mentions loving the film. I remember being surprised back then by the gap between a film's US and UK cinema release.

I think Mark would have asked to come up with a different question, if it had been in one of my quizzes - I have another one for May 2023 to celebrate his birthday, and it's not in that one either. ?

Working on my 30th quiz presently, then I will retire ? and Mark asked me to put them all on a spreadsheet, which I have now done, and he is working on a way of letting the other question setters have a copy (without answers!) to keep duplication down to a minimum.

7. Failed on 1,5.8.
Only the team captains would have known no1, I think. :)
Thanks.

7 & 2. One of those on first look at the quiz photos I thought oh no, not many that suit me, but then find out you know a few. Loved the Reg Varney question,
Blakey: Oh Butler, late again. What excuse you got this time?
Butler: Well, they wanted me to be the first person in the world to use this new hole in the wall thing.
Blakey: Oh my gawd, I've heard it all now. Wait till I tell the governor this one. Waaaaaaaaah.

And I only got Q5 right because I'd researched it for one of my Quizes. ?
