C4's Get me the Producer - making comedy

9:30am - Get me the producer has just started on Channel 4 if anyone is listening or interested and it's about making comedy

thanks. just watched it. sort of like the apprentice but not as good - or funny !

That's the prob with telling people about something that you've just happened upon, isn't it? You shout out that it's on and then feel weirdly responsible for it not being any good or proud as you like (as if you had some part in it!) if it's great.
That's us twatty old humans!!!

Thanks for the heads up Marion. I've set it to download on 4oD and will watch later.

Should be interesting, although I've heard overall this series is a bit of a letdown - it was destined to be E4's prime-time version of The Apprentice but has ended up on early morning C4.

p.s. I've edited the thread title so it still makes sense historially - otherwise people are going to be leaping up every morning!

I'll wait for a few reviews on here before I decide to bother or not to watch it.

I just watched a tape of it now, and quite enjoyed it. Not really being privvy to the how's and the when's of tv production, I didn't think enough thought went into the planning of the programmes they made. I know that's that Greg Dyke said, but from the off, I thought they were quite amateurish in their approach. Just my opinion.

I've finally got around to watching it on 4oD (on fast forward mind, I didn't have a whole hour).

It's basically a poor-mans The Apprentice, or as it probably should be titled Greg Dyke is a God And Really Nice Man Show (seriously, they big him up so much in the intro).

Frankly it's not worth watching IMHO... no real insight into the comedy industry (the closest they get is some guy of the Graham Norton show); just two teams of amateurs trying and failing badly to film a funny five minute sketch. Most of it is the usual reality TV arguing and evictions anyway.
