Mock The Week became unbearable for a period about ten years' ago, effectively becoming a men's only club for as has been said, laddish and competitive male comedians and no women ever on it. Since then, the situation's much improved with women appearing frequently and the show's really benefited from it. It's genuinely becoming more watchable and funnier again and with plenty of female comedians on who can 'hold their own'.
Ryan's position is admirable. That said, she's now at the point in her career where she no longer needs to be on things like MTW anyway, which generally serve as useful stepping stone for comedians early in their career.

One of the wonders of television is that Theresa May could be a guest on a comedy panel show and hold her own with the likes of Jimmy Carr, Ricky Gervais, Jack Dee and Frankie Boyle . . . in the edit.
I don't know why they never thought of that.
Oh well, with Katherine out of the picture maybe someone will think of it now?
