It's still a tired old work-horse that needs replacing (like Eastenders) but while the great unwashed keep tuning in, those boys'll keep on churning 'em out!
A great writers interview though, as already acknowledged!

Quote: Mannikin Bird @ November 13, 2007, 10:39 PMThanks for that Mark, a really excellent insight into a very popular programme.
Thanks, glad you liked it. The real thanks has to go to the writers though who so kindly gave up their time to answer the questions.

What, become past it and not very funny? Oh, wait, too late.
Very good interview and insight Mark. Thanks to you and the writers.
Hurrah - good read. And I think the Prescott question was mine, lovely.
Notice most of the first writers who joined got their breaks via . . . Weekending. Take note BBC. It's no coincidence that BBC comedy is getting shitter when there's no shows like that to give new writers a chance.
Yes, very good interview there. And I agree with Seefacts about lack of opportunities resulting in lack of good comedy.
Interesting to see that someone said there seem to be loads of writer/performers but not enough writers around. I was getting the impression that it was the done thing to be a performer/director/editor.
I think maybe what they meant is that there are not enough non-performer writers around who make professional quality submissions...
I reckon there are more folks 'writing' than you can shake a stick at!
