Just watched this. Thought it was very disappointing, though Buxton was excellent.

One thing that didn't work at all for me was the incidental music, which was far too modern and "knowing", and totally incongruous with the period of the piece. Shouldn't it have used some chamber music?

I liked it a lot. It did help that it had three of my favourite comedy actors as the main guys. I would welcome a series of this. I think it has potential for some great scenarios.

Missed this as I set the tape for 10 (like the week before) and taped My Name Is Earl.

I don't know why people go head over heels for Armstrong and Bain as writers though. Granted Peep Show is good stuff, but I've seen quite a bit of duff from them as well. Scripts should be judged on their own merits. Not everything John Sullivan writes is gold.
