A couple of weeks ago I came across an interesting & amusing 1951 "B" film called Smart Alec (although listed as "The Smart Aleck" on IMDB) on Talking Pictures (Virgin 445; Freeview HD 81; Sky 343; Freesat 306; Youview 81 or so they claim! ).
It stars a young Charles Hawtrey in an unusual role as a detective sergeant, Leslie Dwyer (aka Mr Partridge) and both Kynaston Reeves and Edward Lexy, who went on to play Mr Quelch & Mr Prout respectively to Gerald Campion's Billy Bunter.
It is being shown again at 9.15 am next Saturday 15 July. Catch it if you can.
