RIP Barry Norman

Maybe not known by so many viewers or readers of this forum, but was the film critic on TV for many, many years on the Beeb's "FILM..........."

Very good montage here along with the theme that will be remembered well :-

I watched him when I was little. RIP!
I do love that theme tune.

Good, and if you like a bit of cool jazz (Nice), here's the title and the man who wrote it..............................

"I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free" - Billy Taylor

................and here's him playing it :-

From a more innocent age, when the Beeb dispensed comfort & reassurance, rather than fear & panic.
One of the voices of my youth.
RIP

Yes great presenter in the old style on a ground breaking show but have to say his taste in films and his reviews could be horribly woolly and liberal, especially his written press reviews. He didn't like 007, he bigged up pretentious movies too much, went on and on about Woody Allen and other favourites of his and I believe John Wayne wanted to hit him once for some woolly leftish thing he said to him in an interview. Not really an action movie lover. Very 70s Observer/Guardian. Not my cuppa.

He was occasionally a bit gross and dribbly about young women (not in a remotely Yewtree way, you understand. Just a guy in his 60s not understanding it's a bit gross when he drools over 25 yr olds).
But when he wasn't doing that, I liked him.
