The Galton & Simpson Comedy

Just finished watching this and here's my pennyworth in bold italics...................if anyone's interested :-

The Suit: starring Leslie Phillips and Jennie Linden
A married man falls victim to a rather embarrassing burglary.

Like it, with a nice twist at the end. Leslie Phillips perfect in the part.

Friends in High Places: starring Bob Monkhouse and Patricia Hayes
A 55-year-old wishes to be young again and his wish is granted!

Really liked this with both the "stars" being superb. Just that bit different.

Never Talk to Strangers: starring Harry H. Corbett and Rosemary Leach
Two lonely people have a chance to find happiness together.

Nice tale, though outcome was obvious. Both "stars" were very good and I was not put off by watching Steptoe and Son in between these.

Don't Dilly Dally on the Way: starring Jimmy Edwards and David Jason
After 23 years in the same bungalow, a couple prepares to move house.

Don't know about Dilly Dally, more like Silly Sally - what a waste of comedy talent with also Pat Coombs struggling to make it funny and failing. The one on this DVD that I didn't rate.

Pity Poor Edie... Married to Him: starring Milo O'Shea and Gwendolyn Watts
What happens to a marriage when the breadwinner finds she is expecting?

Quite good and interesting in seeing Gwendolyn Watts playing a French maid very well in Steptoe & Son.

An Extra Bunch of Daffodils: starring Stratford Johns and Patsy Rowlands
A man who has buried five heavily insured wives begins a search for his sixth...

Very good but very obvious plot/outcome.

You are familiar, I assume, with Casanova '73?

I guess maybe not the funniest of the bunch, but I really enjoyed this one! Maybe it's just a nice opportunity to see Jimmy Edwards on TV.

Yes, but rather it was Whacko!

Were these on the ITV? Playhouse was between 1961 and 63, with The Offer AKA Steptoe in 1962 apparently.

It was a show made in 1969, if that helps.

Yes, they were on ITV, which you can find out (and more) by clicking the link above.

I clicked the link and it was just a trailer. Are they all available to view/buy?

It's really not just a trailer! There's loads of information there, and a menu leading on to other pages.

The series was released on DVD in February. https://www.comedy.co.uk/tv/the_galton_and_simpson_comedy/shop/4513/the_galton_simpson_comedy/

What the hell do you think I have been watching when I said from the start "Just finished watching this.................."

You want to read threads Chappers instead of guessing what they are about. Bloody hell, and I thought I was losing the plot. :S

At least this is only just over one line. I can't cope with much more.

You haven't taken your pills again 'ave yer.
