Peter Sallis RIP

Wonderful actor and voice!

I can remember him playing Samuel Pepys on our first television set back in the late 1950s, and he was the voice of Wallace of course. Oh, and in the Last of the Summer Wine.

Odd coincidence with me again as he died aged 96, which is the age my Mother in Law died last week. :(

Yes, RIP Mr Sallis.

I bet you can remember the real Samuel Pepys you old bugger!

Very sad news.

Very sad, though what a ripe old age! Although I wouldn't count Summer Wine among my favourite sitcoms, I fully respect it's longevity and Clarke's writing, of which Sallis was a master at reciting.

William of Cambridge doth taketh the urine.

I liked the original LOTSW, and thought Compo, Foggy & Clegg worked really well. Not a big fan of the later cast/series.

"Cracking cheese Gromit!" Once heard never forgotten.

Perfectly cast as Wallace and a superb characterisation by Sallis.
