British Comedy Guide

Cucumber Castle

One of the more obscure British comedy films, this curiosity was filmed in 1969-70 and broadcast by BBC1 on Boxing Day 1970. It was written and made by the Bee Gees during the period when Robin Gibb had quit the band. Hence the two stars are Barry Gibb and Maurice Gibb. Also appearing are Frankie Howerd, Spike Milligan, Eleanor Bron, Vincent Price, Lulu, Julian Orchard (who was Bernard Bresslaw's pal Fred in Carry On Doctor), Pat Coombs (who was also in a couple of Carry Ons).

Very Goonish in style, complete with requisite irrelevant musical breaks when the two Bee Gees perform. Blind Faith also does a number in concert, and Lulu sings Mrs Robinson. Spike Milligan, as the court jester, does a few of his poems.

Have you been on XXXX and dreamt that Kenneth?

:P

For real. There's even a scene where the brothers Gibb, dressed in chicken costumes, perch in a tree and do a pseudo Pete and Dud dialogue.
