Shooting Stars Page 24

Totally agree, Reeves and Mortimer are a spectacular double act and immensely talented and funny.

Hopefully, we'll see them in a vehicle which fully exploits the duo's potential.

Despite all my misgivings, I still enjoy Shooting Stars and watch it every Wednesday.

It's hard to dislike Vic and Bob but there's more than a faint whiff of shit coming off this show.

It's a solid enough concept, it's just occasionally curiously low brow.

Where is everyone? I know it's a Monday night, but come on!

F**k it, I'm gonna play Call of Duty.

Ah yes. New talent. Loads of that about.

I think we've all wandered about in the critique section and know that to be a blatant lie!!

I give a shit Marc as my license fee is going towards making it.

Ah, it's one show; I'd rather they spent it on this than half the brand new comedies that get broadcast.

I think what some people are bothered about (myself included) is that they have done better shows and it would be great to see them do similar type stuff again.

I agree, and, as I've already stated elsewhere, not only do Vic and Bob just enjoy doing Shooting Stars, they both hope it will help them get a commission for brand new shows; something which has proved a tad tricky for them in recent times.

Absolutely loving Shooting Stars! Never really saw the thing back in the '90's, due to having no telly, but there's some absolutely hilarious stuff in this series. Had my resevations about this series due to the lacklustre special broadcast last year, but they're really on form with this.

At best there are variations on the same jokes, as when Vic and Bob open with another ironically bad homo-erotic song which least has slightly different lyrics. Much of the rest, though, is simply repetition: introducing Ulrika, Mortimer again does the ka-ka-ka stuff on the end of the name, which might at least be excused as a historic catchphrase, but then repeats word for word his song from the series opener: "Loving you is easy because your boobs are new."

This is nothing new. When the show came back in 2002 for two more series after a 5 year break (with Will Self and Johnny Vegas as the new additions) Bob used to do the "She's football Crazy! She 's football mad!..." joke a few times over the series, and it sounded a bit tiresome and repetive then too, when he did a second and third time.

Don't watch then. Nice and simple! :)

Easy for you to say Der Stott, I'm a mindless zombie that likes to get force fed my entertainment on the telly box. Don't watch? You might as well ask me to kill my own children.

I hope the television people make more shows about cooking, they're fab.

Dear Sir,

Why oh why oh why aren't there more makeover shows on television?

Yours,

T. Walker (Mrs)

P.S. I am mad.

Back on-topic, I was reading a recent Guardian interview with Matt Lucas and apparently he put a specific clause in his latest Hollywood film contract, just to ensure that he was given a 2 day break from filming to fly back and record Shooting Stars. He also said that he didn't want to turn on the telly and "see anyone else behind that drumkit". The overall impression was that he was doing the new series out of love, rather than just loyalty.

I still haven't seen the second episode yet! BBC iPlayer (Virgin) sort it out!

Why can't you record it?

From where?

I can see it, can't you? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00mkxds/Shooting_Stars_Series_6_Episode_2/

Sorry, I meant on Virgin's On Demand service. It normally pops up after the shows been on. Episode 1 is there, I'd presume episode 2 would've been up already.

Oh, sorry. I should've thought.

...well, it's there anyway, in case of emergency. ^^;

:)
