Your favourite sitcom character and why Page 6

Arnold Rimmer and Gordon Brittas. Because Chris Barrie is genius, an underrated genius but in my eyes a true genius.

Alan Partridge, Gareth (The Office), Tim & Daisy (Spaced), Sue White, Joanna Clore, Alan Statham (Green Wing).

Father Ted Crilly and Father Dougal McGuire (can't have one without the other) :)

1st - Terry Collier - as realistic a sitcom character as you'll probably find. A rare 3D sitcom character, clever, crafty, lazy, principled, hypocritical, witty. Would happily be TC myself.

2nd - Frank Spencer. A bit cartoonish like many sitcom star characters but still someone you've probably met in a toned down version.

3rd - Rab C Nesbitt. A completely one dimensional character but he always made me laugh and made me think. His drunken rants were some of the wisest words I've ever heard.

Vince out of off of 15 Storeys High. Utterly unredeemable.

Del Boy, Mr Bean, Victor Meldrew or Ben Harper.

I've probably already said this, but Arthur Spooner is probably my favourite, from the last few years.

I have a few

1. Gary Sparrow (Nicholas Lyndhurst) Goodnight Sweetheart - He cheated on his wife and became a bigamist, but the audience still loved him.

2. Bill Porter (Belinda Lang) 2point4 Children - She spent ages trying to be the sensible one only to eventually get involved in all the crazy happenings around her.

3. Patsy Stone (Joanna Lumley) Absolutely Fabulous - Drunk, Drugged up, over sexed, evil = Genius

4. Geraldine Granger (Dawn French) The Vicar Of Dibley - Just Because!

5. Mrs Fiona Wembley (Joan Sims) On The Up - Joan Sims played it brilliantly. Not laugh out loud funny, but a warm character and a very likeable one, plus she had a catchphrase - Just The One!

Geraldine Granger - Kindly, warm but not sanctimonious. Very human.

Edina Monsoon - Often meaning well and actually quite talented and clever. She fails, howver, in ways that we can all identify with. She lacks self-control, is easily led, is prone to selfishness and falls into disorganisation and laziness.

What - you agree that those were their favourites?

Now, that's funny!
