HELP THE AMERICAN - Be More Like You

Howdy! Wait, am I even allowed in here?

About Me: Stand-up is my first love, but I am starting to do some TV-focused writing classes at iO in Chicago.

WHAT I NEED HELP/ADVICE ON -
I want to create a podcast similar to The Bugle, :D but I've been having trouble finding a good partner for this, not for lack of knowing dozens of very funny people.

Situation:
1.) Most stand-up friends are not focused or interested in topical/newsy comedy (mainly do personal-focused stand up). 2.) The comedians I know also don't want to do a scripted podcast ("can't we just riff?") 3.) Though Chicago has a strong writers community ("live lit" shows), the few that do satirical work often put their political position ahead of being funny. They might have a humourous slant on something, but they don't really have jokes in their work, usually don't self-deprecate, aren't comfortable to going off-script or just don't have the stage presence down. 4.) Finally, American topical comedy shows in general just don't do dry satire as well as British shows so there's not many examples people are familiar with. Many of my friends don't see any of the problems and bad habits of current American comedy-news shows. (I could detail this but will save that for another post).

PLEASE INDULGE MY NEED FOR ATTENTION BY GIVING ME:

- Advice for finding the right comedy partner. Success and horror stories welcome. How do you find someone you really click with on personality, comedy, passion, and work ethic? Am I being too hard on my peers? Any strategy I've missed? Any good ways to "test out" a working relationship?

OR

- Advice on going it alone. Just dive in and create it myself? Write a solo show? Anyone done a successful, solo, scripted comedy podcast? Maybe try bringing on one or several people on-board later once the show has a voice? Any advice in how to communicate the perspective/style of the show to give contributors a guide?

Sorry if this is too long or too vague. Only recently discovered this site and I'm just excited to be here. Wave

The best way to test must be to just test-without losing money. So anything free, try them with your potential partner.
