Literary Agents

Anyone on here have a literary agent? And if so, how did you go about choosing one/having one choose you?

Thanks,
DBM

Just trying to find one interested in my children's books that I wrote. There's a list in the artists and writers yearbook. Loads of good tips.

Nearly impossible to get one unless you have some sort of interest in your project already.
I got one because I had a 'name' interested in optioning a TV film I'd written.
It came to nothing but was enough to secure an agent.
They're not one of life's great risk takers, your literary agent!

I contacted one around this time last year and he said he was interested in representation.

I'll probably be getting one in the new year. I got in touch with an agency a couple of months ago because I thought I'd fit in with their client list, and they liked what I sent them. I've yet to meet the guy involved as I've not been in the country much, and it was impossible at Christmas, but we'll meet when I'm next in the UK.
