Arrogant & Deadpan Comedians

Hi all! Second time poster, please be gentle.

As the title of the thread suggests, I'm looking for recommendations of both arrogant & deadpan comedians. I predominantly watch American stand up, which is what I'm more looking for, but I won't hold the race of the suggested comic against you.

I recently watch Bryan Callen's latest special, his balance between over the top arrogance and almost self-assurance had me in tears, I'd love to find more of that.

As for the deadpan genre, it was Ms Aubrey Plaza who turned me onto that. I can't put my finger on how exactly it gets me, the fact she almost seems confused/that she didn't quite understand her own joke is something I've never really seen (if I had, I wouldn't be here now would I?)

Any and all recommendations welcome, love you all

Matt

I'd reccomend a deadpan comedian, but you wouldn't get them.

Well, I suppose Stewart Lee is pretty much the epitome of this.

Jack Dee and Paul Merton for an earlier generation.

The Paul Merton Series is a forgotten gem of deadpan sketch humour.

For Arrogant you can't beat Billy Conolly, it's supreme self confidence really that many see as arrogance, look how many wannabe Conollies there still are. The long hair and tee-shirts look mostly stem from him as does the shouty laddish humour. It's not his fault they are mostly utter crap while he was brilliantly funny.

Two of the smart and suited type who were accused of arrogance were Bob Hope and Bob Monkhouse who modelled himself on Hope. Again supreme confidence in their act and material led them to teeter on arrogance, but is it an inevitable consequence? Dave Allen, Tom O'Connor, Jack Benny, Lee Evans, that thin Irish bloke suggest not, although I'm no expert no big fan of what you call stand up.
