Comedy Playhouse 2016: Stop/Start

Very much looking forward to this, loved the radio sitcom.

Enjoyed the radio version but I can't believe they've dropped Sally Bretton-not sure if the format will work quite so well on TV but will give it a try.

I was very much looking forward to it. Great cast.

Within a minute they broke the fourth wall and my head fell into my hands. I endured about 7-8 minutes and then turned it off. Rubbish.

The original broke the fourth wall, Woozie. That's kind of why it has this title. Were you expecting something a bit more Terry and June about marriages?

I wasn't sure what to expect. I heard it was a live studio comedy about three marriages. "Stop/Start" the title makes perfect sense post-viewing but I found it so infuriating.

Utter garbage.

Who's writing this shit?

Now watched it and didn't think it was that bad, although the fourth wall was a bit over the top. They did it a bit on the second episode Broken Biscuit (the best of the three in my opinion) but it wasn't overly used, not that I mind anyway if it is done correctly and is necessary(?)

The laughter track was annoying and I think they needed a better way of showing when the characters were talking to the audience. The 'thinking out loud' or asides felt that they got a bit lost. Have the other characters frozen, 'knocked back' into the screen, black and white? or just something.

And perhaps a few less asides.

But not too bad on the whole.

There's always the problem turning radio programmes into TV ones.

The canned laughter was bloody annoying. Who are the kidding? It was so false - bad in fact.

As far as I'm concerned this was the best so far.

I love Jack Docherty and it obviously has legs.

That never occurred to me at all.

I thought it was very good, although it was strange to see it on TV when I've already heard virtually the same episode on the radio. The cast changes were interesting, I liked the original radio cast and thought both Katherine Parkinson and Sally Bretton played the role of Alice (now Georgie) very well; but Laura Aikman is great too. I hope there will be more episodes of this, either TV or radio.

Maybe they felt on TV that Sally and Katherine are too well known for other things. Or maybe they didn't want to.

Well that's as far as it's going to go as there were only three, and I prefer Broken Biscuits - the second one.

Ditto, best of the three I thought.
