RIP George Martin

A great producer.

Indeed, indeed. Never been comfortable with "The Fifth Beatle" title as they said the same thing about George Best, but he certainly did put The Beatles on the map!
Up until then the Parlophone label had been mainly known for comedy (Sellers, Milligan, Cribbens et al) and jazz; but he saw something in the Fab Four and we're all so glad for that.
Apparently John Lennon wanted "Please,Please Me" to be in the style of a slow Roy Orbison number but Sir Martin saw it differently, that is played much faster, and the rest is history.

Yes, RIP Sir George Martin. A sad day.

A Day In The Life...Tomorrow Never Knows...need I say more?? Cinema for the ears!

Thanks George! RIP

RIP.

Produced some wonderful stuff in the 60s and 70s (not just with The Beatles).

Indeed, RIP to a true legend. I saw the BBC4 tribute to him last year, which was very interesting indeed - what a stellar career that man had.

RIP George Martin what a fantastic man he was.

RIP.

Farewell to you, multi talented, George Martin.
