I think you might have a slight misunderstanding about the nature of SEO?

I don't think so. We've done lots of technical backend things that enable us to be more visible to Google and other search engines which I've not detailed as not sure who wants to read about sitemaps and the lark. Search Engine Optimisation innit.

No, it's a bit more than just being visible. How high do you want to be up Google for instance?

Just posted my first punch line.

Quick question -

how do you know if your punchline has already been used? Is there a way of seeing all the punchlines for a particular set up?

Hey! Welcome.

You can on the website version, it's a bit hidden but if you click on a setup it lists all the jokes underneath. Otherwise, click on any joke and you will see a small link icon under the joke, this links to the setup that also shows all the punchlines.

This feature isn't available on the iPhone app just yet.

Cheers!
Mike

Hiya! Me again.

Again keeping all Howler news here rather than creating new posts....

We've just launched an update to our iPhone app with the following features.

1. New publishing of setups, smaller text so it's easier to write longer setups.
2. New publishing of punchlines, now you can see the setup you're adding a punchline to on screen to avoid mistakes within the joke. We've again made the text smaller so you don't need to scroll.
3. Tap the top Howler icon to speed jump to the top.
4. Notifications are now styled and link to jokes.
5. Bug and performance fixes.

Nice one Mike, it's working well.

Just thought I'd give this brilliant site a little bump. The lovely folks at Howler have also recently joined with PBH's Free Fringe to create an app for the event in Edinburgh which allows you access to gigs, venues and locations!

If you haven't already clicked on to Howler please do. It's great for maintaining your funny bones!

Thanks Craig,

More on our PBH's Free Fringe app soon, we've recently been talking to some investors and making plans to move Howler forward. We're currently working on speeding up the site and making some of the actions clearer, we want to make the profiles better with social links (so you can be proud of them) and might even sneak in some new features.

Growing daily and wonderful to see such talent really adopting us as their creative home.

I've got to agree with Craig here, it's very addictive. And thank him for just liking my line on the 'my girlfriend thinks I'm immature' setup!

Hey All.

Me again.

We've just added the ability to add comments to users jokes on http://howler.co aimed at providing feedback and general community discussion.

At the moment it's web only but we're hoping to push new features to the app very soon.

So if you like:
A. Writing jokes
B. Reading Jokes
C. Give comics feedback on jokes...

Then check out http://howler.co

Thanks for the kind comments on this thread.

Take care
Mike
@zer0mike

Yo Mike, really like the new comments feature, nice job.

Me again.

Just to let you know we've updated and improved our daily digest emails.

What's a daily digest email? It's the top 5 jokes from the previous day, your stats (such as followers, new punchlines, new votes), links to the funniest users and some general linkage to podcast, site etc etc.

We currently have around 1000 users signed up to it, so if you like jokes and want a daily 'blast' then sign up at http://howler.co and you'll be automatically enrolled. You don't need to be an active user, just a user!

Already a Howler user? go to your Profile>Settings and check you have 'Daily Digest' on.

Emails go out at 2pm GMT every day.

We're very lucky to have quiet a few of this fine forum users already subscribed and we'd love to see more amateur/professional joke writers.

Bonus: We've made the site faster too... incase that's ever put you off.

All the best

Nice improvements Mike. I've been a bit slack lately, better pull my finger out.

I can always count on you Will.

I signed up to this yesterday. Found it quite addictive. Got a few well-received punchlines in, which made me happy :-)
