But it's still money we have to set aside. It's not money we're just able to spend willy-nilly. The EU tells us in what areas it can be used - it just doesn't go through their wasteful bureaucracy before coming back to us. So it's entirely correct to include it in a figure of EU money that we would be able to spend on whatever we want if we leave.

Well. Finally the day's come. So much bollocks sprouted from both sides over the past few weeks, it was hard to know what to do. I looked into the facts, but on a basic level, on the side of Leave are people like Trump, Farage et al. Whereas on the side of remain are people whose opinions I respect, i.e. Eddie Izzard, Idris Elba etc.

I despise all the scaremongering that has been going on in relation to the Referendum, and so now whatever the result is, I'm glad the bloody thing's over with.

Genuinely, he told LBC Radio earlier this year that he was intending to emigrate to Eastern Europe. You can Google it if it sounds ludicrous.I voted Remain (65 to 35) as is my lifelong instinct but I was wobbling in the last 24 hours. Not at all keen on the Princess Diana meets Mother Theresa stuff in London "and worldwide". Very Blair, I thought. As for Juncker, well, it would be nice if the next President didn't come from a family with a Nazi history.

The result has been rigged of course. As they admit, I am not in UKIP territory but in my own straw poll, I have yet to find one person who has voted anything but Leave. Life, though, isn't a la carte. It's a Waldorf Salad.

I am not against ANY european union, just against this current particular European Union.

Its structure has gone in the wrong direction and it is strongly resistant to change. It has become a gravy train for its officials and the UK will not be able to reform it from within.

The president of the European Commission

The president of the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker, has said British voters in tomorrow's referendum must understand that "out, is out" and that there can be no renegotiation with the UK in the event of a leave vote.

Speaking in Brussels this afternoon, Mr Juncker said:

I have to add that the British policy makers and the British voters have to know there will be no kind of any renegotiation. We have concluded a deal with the prime minister. He got the maximum he could receive, and we gave the maximum we could give, so there will be no kind of renegotiation. Nor on the agreement we found, I think, in February, nor as far as any kind of treaty negotiation are concerned. Out is out."

In other words "that's yer lot mate!" no further concessions to the UK, which means that any prospect of reforming the EU from inside {one of the REMAINERs claims} is doomed.

So in my opinion the only option is to leave and gradually create the kind of organization the the EU should have been and then (mmany years from now) invite the various countries of Europe to leave the EU and join our organization.

A wild plan perhaps with just a faint chance of success if we leave and no chance at all if we stay in the present EU.

Come on Bill you just miss the days when Europe was part of the Pangea continent.

Just think of it as your own 4th of July and stick a finger in your oppressor's eye.

When do the polls close? I guess a better question is when will the official results be known?

The BNP has one counsellor so they're about as interesting to the news media as the bloke down Wetherspoons, who'll dance the Macarena for half a pint of Fosters.

Though one counsellor is more than Britain First has. Britain First has three main assessts.

1 They may have organised the assassination for the first time of a female MP.

2 The other 2 can be found on the front of Jayda Fransen.

I don't remember back that far, but Britain being in the EU made more sense when the North Sea was above sea level & dry (ish).

Polls close at 10pm UK time tonight.

The counting won't be complete until some time tommorrow.

Maybe the queen can cast the deciding vote?

It's an advisory referendum.

It has no legal power whatsoever so whoever is in charge is completely free to say,
"referendum what referendum?"

It's like if a bunch of tramps took a vote you should give them a fiver for a cup of tea. You're completely free to do a runner.

Really? I had no idea. So it's sort of like the deal that President Obama struck with Iran, then.

Ultimately it was Sheila Hancock who persuaded me not to abstain. I just felt that if someone born on the Isle of Wight could do a Remain, so could I as someone who first saw light of day on the actual continent of Britain.

Sort of. Ish. Except it would be personal career and party suicide to ignore the result, so it won't happen.

Polls close at 10pm BST. The result is expected maybe something like 7am tomorrow, but if it's as close as it looks like it could be, that may well drag later and later.

Which is true but Cameron's career as PM is toast anyway.

So he resigns and hands over to whoever replaces him. They go
"good bloke Cameron, solid chap went a bit bananas found a nude picture of Nigel Farage in his office so we won't be leaving the EU."

Cameron spends the next year on Sir Phil Green's mega yacht eating peeled grapes. Then releases a crap autobiography for a squillion quids and spends the rest of his days cashing in his chips Tony Blair stylee.

Or gets a job with some consultancy firm or whatever.

The electorate has been lied to about so many things, I'm surprised anyone's surprised.

Apparently, the UN will be regularly inspecting all of Iran's nuclear facilities so you don't need to worry.

They never, ever balls these things up.

That said I suspect half the world's intelligence agencies have Stuxnet loaded and ready to go just in case
