British Comedy Guide

The British Comedy Guide vs Cook'd and Bomb'd

I recall trying to join C&B once but didn't get accepted or my email was lost. Whatever. I've just had a gander and they make the following boast:

Cook'd and Bomb'd is home to the UK's busiest comedy discussion forum, containing, according to The Guardian "fragments of the most perceptive writing on the state of UK comedy." The Comedy Chat forum is dedicated to the discussion and analysis of comedy. We take laughter seriously.

Are they *really* busier than us lot? Shall we challenge them to a 'comedy off' at some point?

So, with that in mind, I wondered whether to try again, but received the following message:

An Error Has Occurred!

Sorry, registration is currently disabled.

This is an odd thread: http://www.cookdandbombd.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic,50617.0.html

I never thought of the BCG Forums as "busy" and over the years it seems to have got more and more snoozy and slippers by the firesidey.. :P

Maybe I've got it all wrong!

From looking through various bits of C&B it appears that their fora may be busier because it's much sleazier than ours?

We used to be very busy at times. It's definitely quieter at the moment.

Why is it called Cook'd and Bomb'd? I've probably asked before and forgotten.

Actually, it does seem to be. Quite a few of the original 2006-2010 BCG 'Golden Age' posters seem to have disappeared off somewhere over the past year.

It's something to do with Chris Morris. I'll have a look.

Yes it is, there are a lot of references to bras and knickers.

I didn't like the look of it, it made my slippers eject my feet.

I thought so too. I mean, who on earth would photograph all of their clothes and upload it to the internet? I wouldn't, that's for sure.

I do like Onken's pictures of his belongings. That's quality OCD, that. *admires him*

(Feels a bit over familiar using a stranger's name in a thread he presumably isn't reading, but I'll cope.)

He seems a very strange individual indeed, if not for photographing his clothes in a very logical manner, but for sharing a name with a reputable manufacturer of pro-biotic yogurts.

I admired his Flat Eric though. Perhaps he's really Mr Oizo?

Perhaps.
I really couldn't photograph all my clothes. It would take days to even set them out. And I'd have to rent floor space.

Me neither, I have far too many, but saying that, at least 76% of them don't fit me any more. I exist in a veritable sea of ill-fitting denim.

Let's take a match to 'em.

Noooo - it'd smoke out the sauf 'feast.

I'll slim back into every single man jack of them. Honest. By 2017 anyway.

These look like nice jeans for the more (ahem) mature woman, such as me: http://www.jdwilliams.co.uk/shop/jeans/womens/1/_/N-1ytvwzf/products/show.action?type=cmr&hnid=11194564&cm_sp=JDW-Womens-_-ShopByCategory-_-Jeans&promo=3240

Especially these:

I'll order a pair in dress size 32 with a 34in length.

34? What are you, a bleedin' giraffe?

I'm 5ft 9in, but saying that, I'm not a 34in in flares/bootcuts because they're a different shape and I don't like wearing heels much, lest I tower over everyone like a Hyperion (no, I'd never heard of it either, I just searched it on the internet, but hey, it'll come in useful at some point.)
