I have been listening to a huge amount of Terry Pratchett audio-books over the last year.
I play them to lull the baby to sleep as it is just continuous narration without any stupid music to wake her back up again, which is how all the children's audio books seem to be arranged. Also, if I'm going to have to sit up all night, I need something to entertain me too.
Anyway, in my head I tend to re-cast all the characters as comedy performers/actors and then mentally re-read the lines in my head as them. Because it's purely for fun, I can cast whoever I want living or dead and they can be aged appropriately to the part.
I have spent far too much time thinking about this, but it stops thoughts of potential wars, man's inhumanity to man, personal self-loathing and the theme tune to In The Night Garden out of my head, so that's ok.
