Here's a concrete example. I bought Lukaku when he was valued at £8M. His current value is £8.2M, but if I sell him, I only get £8.1M to spend (hence "Tax"). Try it yourself and go on the Transfers page, and check the values of your players, compared to their current market value.
If my other 14 players were exactly the same value as when I bought them, and only Lukaku's had changed, I would be able to spend £100.1M

What George wrote is spot-on.
If you want to know what your squad value (available for transfers) is, go to 'Transfers' and click the 'x' for every player in your squad, as if you were going to transfer everyone.*
On the right at the top will be listed your squad's actual value, which may be less than the FPL rated value.
I just did mine and although my squad has an FPL value of £101.8M, the actual value for transfer purposes is £100.5M
*remember to 'reset' !!
Thank you....so that means you have £100.5 to spend on say a completely new squad, assuming you completely ditched the original one.
