Damn! Missed the Waterboys but the Who were fairly good!

(But of course Kanye West is the greatest rock star in the world)

Didn't really know any of her songs apart from the theme to Sun Trap but I thought Umpa Lumpa Faith gave an excellent performance.

She is a star.

The Who ending it well again. They have the best set and material for that out of anyone in the world. Always been known as 'one of the' best live bands in the world, I think they've nailed that one down now. Studio albums, nowhere near the best, lack variety, live, blow everyone else away. Daltrey always gives it some, one of the most under rated front men ever.

Another OAP rocker impressed me, Lemmy with his superb Motorhead. Can't think why they didn't do their two biggest and best hits but they were still very good, short sharp rock cutting through all the other crap I didn't watch. Top rockin'. I'm cool see, no g. Unimpressed

Dipped in and out a fair bit and ended up seeing quite a lot in total but was largely underwhelmed by what I saw and heard. Chemical Brothers delivered as usual but the main surprise was how good Lionel Richie was. Never heard of Father John Misty before but he was pretty good.

Haven't watched their set yet. It clashed with Ryan Adams, who I'm a huge fan of, and he was brilliant.

The Who did make quite a few classic studio albums though. [/i]Who's Next[/i] is in my all time top 20 albums.

Compared to last few years, was very low on good new discoveries, or revelations. Like you, more a case of artists I already know & like, delivering, such as Hot Chip, and Goat. Would put Sharon van Etten in this category. It was a fairly low key performance, but if you like Indie Folk Rock, she sounds great.

And "The Who Sell Out" with the great "Armenia".

There's a big piece about the Who in the latest edition of Mojo.

Quadrophenia is my favourite album of all.

I saw some great bands at Solid Sound this weekend. I'd heard a lot of buzz about Parquet Courts and they lived up to the hype with a roaring set. I'll have to see them again.

Looks like they have European dates coming up, including these:

AUG 27th @ Birthdays
London, UK

AUG 28th / 29th Reading & Leeds Festival
Reading/Leeds, UK

Definitely worth checking out.

Lucky the audience was there to help him. What an arrogant tosser!

Lionel Ritchie at Glastonbury. Are they deliberately trying to make the festival as naff as possible?
