How Not To Live Your Life - Series 1 Page 12

Hahaha... I never thought I'd die surrounded by midgets! hehe

Shitsticks, I forgot!

Oh well, the last two minutes were good...

I thought it was pretty funny, not as good as the first one.

Yeah, pretty good. Some laughs. Enjoyable enough. I wonder how it'll level out next week...

I really think this is appalling. A real example of style over substance.

The aesthetic is just beautiful, the photography and everything tell me I'm just going to love it - but then the script is awful. I think it's only overtaken in truly awfulness by the acting of the lead guy. The poor bloke is massively overdoing it, in a piece which would allow him to be really subtle whilst doing really ridiculous things.

What a shame Beeb3 have picked a dud again,

Yours,

Mildy disgruntled and sexually repressed of North London

You know, I did think that. But have decided to give it a little longer, before I decide if it really is bad acting, or just a character flaw.

By the way - I'm very much in with the 'poor man's Peep Show' thing.

There's something about the tone of the thing <similar look, wobbly camera, quite a lot of awkward silence bits>. Plus there are some really heightened characters surrounded by really realistic ones. Plus the fact that we have bits of internal monologue and he writes & delivers his lines in an almost direct copy of Jeremy from PS. Or tries to.

..In case you hadn't got it, I'm not really loving this. That clear? Right, yeah. Thought so. Good.

This is largely true. I don't personally think that the script is thaaat bad (although by no means great), but you're right in that visually, it's on a whole other level. I can't really picture what would suit the script though... But perhaps that's an indicator of its quality! Yes. 'Tis a good point, that mismatch. Maybe that's why I'm still unsure quite what to make of it.

And Don's still a knob.

Out of interest, did you see the first episode?

I thought it was a complete load of bollocks.

This episode was much better than last weeks'. It contained a few witty lines as well as being less pointlessly hateful.

The 'rubbing off on the kids' line made me smile in my big, vulgar cab driver's leather and shagpile castle.

That one made me laugh out loud.

I absolutely love this show.

I would love to know where this guy got his inspiration from.

I think it's a grower. I have been laughing at it.

I always find it hard to really get into shows where I hate the main character. He is such an idiot. Normally, there are other characters I can like and follow, but I don't like any of the other character's either. Saying that, I like the show, I just can't "get up and close" with it.

What shows can you "get up close" with?
