I couldn't cancel it as it had votes - I did tell people not to vote for it but obviously some people didn't pick it up. It didn't matter as I only played the top 10 on the show
Very interesting results - and, yes, I missed the Aretha faux pas. I recall very vividly "Papa Was a Rolling Stone", the extended version, as the final song they used to play at a kids disco I used to attend. It was like being in another world. There we were all dancing with various coloured lights and strobe lights on the walls and it all felt very grown up. Hey, they even had a professional DJ. I think today it was probably just some social hall. But what makes it brilliant now is that while it was just a couple of miles away from the South West London Saville people they were fortunately never there. Although in that picture of me and Louise with the entertainers I do have doubts about the clown.
