'City of Women' - David Gillham. I'm gearing up to being frightened the Nazis are going to get the heroine.

A Street Cat Named Bob. First book I've read in ages.

I met himmmmmmmmmmm!

He was so cute and furry.

It's sort of making me wish I had a pet cat. Mostly had cats growing up and always enjoyed their company or happy to play with friends cats but wouldn't say I'm a cat person as such.

The Bielski Brothers: The True Story of Three Men Who Defied the Nazis, Built a Village in the Forest, and Saved 1,200 Jews

Room by Emma Donoghue, about the child of a Joseph Fritzl type nutter who has only ever lived in a single room his entire life. Very good, although part of me would actually like to live in one room for my entire life.

Read that a couple of years ago. Brilliant and very gripping.

'John Saturnall's Feast' - Lawrence Norfolk. Amazing how many witchcraft novels my family give me. Are they trying to tell me something?

Has anyone read The Devil in Marshalsea?

Got it as a present today

'Harvest' - Jim Grace. I find some of these Booker nominees a bit heavy on the descriptive stuff.

Has anyone read 1984?

Quite intrigued but is it very heavy going?

I mean , for a gormless ill educated cretin like myself

As sooty says, it's short and brilliant, and very readable.
