Libel

Hi

Would it be libel for a sketch show to depict a celebrity being killed?

Not in a gory, bloody, likely to distress way, more in a slapstick stupid manner.

I'm very unsure, so any advice would be great.

Many thanks

No.

Libel is a noun and things which "be" are verbs. You mean libellous.

I think he means slanderous.

Or defamatory

No

bearing in mind channel 4 ran the Assassination of George Bush

The question would really be if you either seemed to be encouraging the act, or if the motivation for the act could be libellous or scandalous

Why do you want to know
