I've got a script but will the idea get pinched? Page 6

Does anyone on these forums write stuff currently for telly or have done in the past?

Yes, but that doesn't mean their (our? one's?) advice is necessarily right or useful.

Listen to and watch loads of sitcoms. Understand why they work, even - especially - the ones you don't like.

I also recommend Sondheim and Test cricket.

Most first time sitcom scripts have too many characters and a boring protagonist, I hear.

And jokes come in handy. Put the funny bit at the end of the line.

Oh, also - what do your characters want? What does success look like for these characters? What would the final episode look like?

And...characters lead jokes, I think, not vice versa. Get the characters right and the jokes should flow naturally.

Most importantly, James Vince is underrated as an explosive batsman.

A lot of people here write for TV or have done, or are involved in the production process sometimes... although those rarely pop up nowadays. I can't think why lol.
