Bartlefords Garden

New sketch.

A farm-hand is asked to perform a very particular set of jobs for Lord Bartleford and is determined to find a way out of completing them.

Rather obviously Ted and Ralph, I'd say; and the bit at the end is a bit heavily reminiscent of the Killer Rabbit sequence from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I like the idea of the landlord's demands becoming more and more impossible while the farm-hand's excuses become more and more implausible, though - especially 'trim this hedge with this tiny pair of nail scissors' - and then the farm-hand's least plausible excuse actually coming true at the end.

Thanks very much for the feedback. It definitely has a Ted and Ralph influence although I didnt realise it at the time.

I don't think it's particularly Fast Show, the relationship betweewn the characters is totally different. We can't rule out whole settings because somebody's used them before (although I won't be writing a hotel sit com any time soon).

For me, I liked the list of ridiculous jobs being recited, but the rest of it wa s abit long - don't get anything form the introductory wedding conversation, for example.

I liked the impossible tasks being set, but think it needed a twist as it fizzled out for me. The ending seemed overlong too.

Thanks for the feedback. The opening wedding converasation I felt was necessary to establish that he was looking forward to the stag do that but I think there could be another joke in there.

I'm happy with the ending although I do agree that it might be a little long.
