Can't females be homo?

Quote: Rood Eye @ 15th October 2015, 7:59 PM BST

MILK: Sterilised, Condensed, Pasteurised, Jersey.

FRUIT: Star, Passion, Grape, Ugli.

NEW: York, Delhi, Hampshire, Orleans.

SYNONYMS FOR 'GUY': (including a gay one): MALEvolent, CHAPatti, MANgo, HOMOgenised,

I think you will find that homo does actually mean man, as in homo sapiens - what you are referring to is the derogatory version.

Indeed, but 'homo' in that sense includes the female whereas the other words in the group do not.

Yes, and that weakens the integrity of that particular group (i.e. the group of 4 words in this puzzle) - although I've never heard the term used to describe a female.

Homo includes woman only in the wider sense and as you yourself have said you have never heard it used in that context, which leads me on to..............

You are trying to put a modern day PC slant on it. Homo is Latin for man, end of.

Hey, I'm not a pro at this... just making em up for 'our' enjoyment. I thought that one met the criteria... with the red herrings and all.
:)
Hercs the pro, so his adjudication is final.

And it was good Stephen, and I am supporting you with my last post - mind you I don't think the Only Connect team would have accepted it. ;)

Aww shucks. :$ And I like you too. :)

Okay, what about this wall?

James Eccles Joseph Tottenham

Leeds Richard Dundee Mark

John Oxford Stephen York

Pontefract Paul Chorley George

Beatles first names & cakes

8 are names and 8 are places....

Needs more diversity.

James John Richard George Beatles Forenames
Paul James Mark Stephen Apostles
Pontefract Dundee Ecccles Chorley ( cakes or places in Leeds apart from Dundee and maybe the others as well)
No idea on the rest or if any of that is right

Err, looked good to me until I noticed you have James twice.

I think it is:-

YORKSHIRE
Leeds
York
Pontefract
Chorley

BEATLES FIRST NAMES
James
Richard
John
George

BIBLICAL CHARACTERS
Joseph
Mark
Paul
Stephen

CAKES
Eccles
Tottenham
Dundee
Oxford

Looking at it now I have posted it, James or Paul could both be Biblical characters and/or in the Beatles; and this is where you have to be careful when submitting to Only Connect that each item will only fit one group.

But some items can fit more than one group
Otherwise it would be too easy

And it's real first names of the Beatles otherwise they'd have Ringo

Here you go I've done one

It's probably rubbish, and would never be accepted by Only connect
But it's just a bit of fun innit

Esther Testament Rush Job
Maiden Keane Kiss Joel
Gun Genesis Aldridge Boston
Fowler Stand Hunt Numbers
