New Sketch Comedy Videos
Hi Matt,
I watched the one about the maths and you dying etc.
Positives
. Your acting made me genuinely laugh sometimes, you have good timing.
. The quality of the sketch in terms of cinematography was of a decent standard, you worked well with what you had.
Negatives
. I'm not sure if it really was a sketch, there didn't seem to be a punchline or a recurring theme.
. The constant shift of the subject matter was too nonsensical and often unjustified- House of cards to maths to murder- there was no solid link.
. The jokes themselves are sometimes okay- but your acting saves half of them.
. A lot of the jokes lack originality- example the soundtrack turns out to be playing for the characters too, done to death.
You have a good start here, you know what you're doing with what you've got and you're not a bad actor. The writing needs work however, spend a lot more time bringing the sketch together to be a whole next time instead of it darting off in all sorts of directions without suitable cause, spend more time coming up with more original gags and jokes as well.
Good luck.
I liked it a lot... V good acting, music, editing. Unusually for these things , I watched it all the way thru....
Hey Matt. Welcome to the forum.
I watched it all too. I think it was more entertaining than funny and I'd say your film making skills definitely shine through more than your comedy on this effort anyway. Production was very professional and sound editing was bang on.
I have to disagree with Mikey. It wasn't original but the way you done the listening to music / background music was excellent. It was executed really well.
I liked the trying to kill you part best. Conveniently placed fake blood etc
It's definitely driven by the film editing / production than the comedy and I'd like to see what you could do with something that's driven more towards the comedy.
I really enjoyed the opening section with the cards - sort of Vic & Bob meets Looney Tunes - but I thought it was going to be an intro into a more coherent piece. Like the others I'd like to see something more focused to showcase your obvious talents.
