Open Mike in Lynn, Mass

I just had the best open mike of my life. I think it helped that it was a brand new comedy open mike and the other comedians were actually good. As in I would be surprised if they were not all professionals. But they were really easy to laugh at and to have a good time.

There was no rehearsal because I only found out about the open mic this morning, so all I had were the jokes and a general idea. I was even more off aim than the guys I had to clean up after in the men's toilets at work. But I got laughs for every single joke.

I even did a bit of successful crowd working. I pointed out that the audience could watch Star Trek on their credit card sized screens. But I can flip my phone open and shout "Khaaaaaan!"

At which point, I pointed to the guy whose "Trek" ringtone had been playing all night and I said, "I know at least you got that one." Laughter. After two months of dead silence, it was great to get back on stage. It felt like falling off a bicycle. It all comes back to you.

Well done, Nate.
