British Comedy Guide

My mother, who I live with...

Hello,

I'm hoping you can help me ID a British comedy bit I heard/loved long ago. The local, "comedy DJ" who aired it doesn't remember. (Too much California "medicine," I s'pect!) But, he suggested "The Goon Show." Anyway...

THE SET-UP:
Pupil enters English school master's office. Pupil's mediocrity becomes increasingly apparent as head master reads the beginnings of a few of his essays, all of which begin, "My mother, who I live with...," then loosely/lamely link in the subject.

Finally, when he can stand the inferior work no longer, the head master sputters, "...with whom I live, my mother with whom I live!"

Thank you for any input you may offer.

David

PS
Should you find any grammatical errors herein, feel free to point them out humourously!

Sounds vaguely like 'A Bit Of Fry & Laurie'

Ah - no. It's from 'Not The Nine O'Clock News':

Thanks for the source and the link. Righto! Jolly good! (Please pardon me for tossing out a Britishism or two.)

Actually, the link is not exactly as I remember. I'm sure the one I heard referred to "...my mother..." But it's obviously the same set-up and punch line. Perhaps they tried variations over time.

Thanks awfully. (Whoops, another Britishism! Please excuse; as some say in America: I didn't mean nothin' by it!)

Dave
