Feels like he's always been there.
Shame.
Bob Hoskins - Brown Bread
Nobbert a young an'all. RIP
He was brilliant
RIP.
Famed for Pennies From Heaven, The Long Good Friday, Roger Rabbit...
Didn't know that he was in Frasier, though.
I think Mona Lisa was one of his best films and is sort of one of the best British films of all time, in an understated kind of way.
Long Good Friday....
it's a great film, but I think Mona Lisa was much more complex and deep, I especially loved his relationship in that film with both Kathy Tyson and Robby Coltrane.
In seemed symbolic like himself of a real high point in 1980s UK cinema.
The Long Good Friday, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Twenty Four Seven show just how versatile he was.
Pennies From Heaven was his definitive role for me. Well worth tracking down if you haven't seen it.
He had good presence onscreen. Some people are good actors, some people "pop" off the screen. He did both.
Yes a really great film actor gone. Like a force of nature in some films, especially as George in Mona Lisa, how did he not win the Oscar for that? I think by simply not being a yank. One of my favourite film performances and characters of all time, a sort of naive good guy psycho.
