Dad's Army - The New Movie

I may be alone but I quite like the idea of a new movie based on these characters.

Bill Nighy is obviously a fine actor and the team behind Johnny English Reborn (which was actually very good for that type of movie) are making it.

Hopefully Ian Lavender will be involved somehow if he wishes to be.

Simple question . . why do it?

All I can say about this film is "Oh dear God!".

Has failure writted all over it!

My ideal cast for this.

Mainwaring: Anthony Hopkins.
Wilson: Nigel Havers (though Bill Nighy would be good)
Jones: John Savident
Walker: Johnny Vegas
Frasier: Russ Abbott
Mrs Pike: Emma Kennedy (could Liz Frasier reprise her film role?)
Hodges: David Thelfall
The Vicar: Harry Enfield

...except of course you can't replace them...

Maybes Sir David can finally get the role of Jonesy . . .

That would be nice, of course...

It's interesting to see that it still takes place in Thetford, Norfolk. How many locations still survive? I know Victoria Wood mentioned how many in her film, but...

Can't they just save time and money hire the cast of 'The Expendables'?

My ideal cast for this.

Manwaring: Aaron
Wilson: Marc P
Jones: Sootyj
Walker: RC
Pike: George Roper
Frasier: Alfred J Kipper
Mrs Pike: Jennie
Godfrey: billwill
Hodges: Teddy Paddalack

Erm ok...

I really wanted David Jason but he's too busy being an old twat.

Sweeeeeet!

More like the permanently annoyed air raid warden.

Captain Square?

(No, hang on, that's my role.)

Terrible idea, unless you're too young to remember it first time around. And, if you are, chances are you won't be interested in the subject matter, so either way a waste of time and money.
