Knock knock

who's there

I'm too busy talking bollocks as you said Paul. I think there are places on the forum for telling jokes. But we're discussing Miranda Hart here, not really whether Barry from down the pub thinks my jokes are like hilarious.

I don't get it

I think your suggestion of Hitler presenting it was better. At least the contestants would behave themselves.

Markedly inferior moustache and far too little, from me you, badinage

he'd think you were talking about Jews and get all over excited.

But lots of people do find it "inspires the soul". I have lots of single 30 something friends who strongly identify with some of the problems the character Miranda encounters with her mother etc.

I am all for warmedy. I remember watching The Detectives every Wednesday night when I was about 8 or 9. I loved it. It gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

That's like a cookery show where Delia does Hugh Fernley up his Riverside.

It's porn not cookery.

Comedy is meant to be funny, not inspiring, not uplifting, funny.

If it's not funny it's not comedy.

I accept I am an obdurate minority in not finding her funny. I do not accept she shouldn't be funny.

I think Miranda borrows from Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones quite a bit, particularly her Mother.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter whether you or I or Paul, or his mate Barry from down the pub, find Miranda Hart funny or not. Millions do and whichever way some people tilt their creme de menthe glass to look at it - she is f**king successful! Diversity in comedy is Darwinianism in action after all!

In fairness I don't much care I've given up on much of modern comedy, along with much of modern life.
As Blur sung, modern life is rubbish, they were right and that was the 1990s.
Mostly I watch Minder and Magnum and weep for a more innocent time.

what those dancing numpties off the Xfactor.

Success brings its own challenges!!

I haven't expressed an opinion on Miranda's funniness, Marc. I was simply replying to Aziza who said for him she didn't work for him on any programme

I think Sootyj may be right in calling her stuff schtick, there's obviously the strong Jewish influence. I think the sitcom needed a shake up, but maybe it needs to go further. It's well-written for what it is, but critics always want more.

What strong Jewish influence? Who's talking about things being Jewish?

F**k the critics!

Name me one Jewish person who has ever been successful in comedy!

Miranda is my role model.

Maybe it's time for the BBC to welcome Jim Davidson back into the fold.
